For those of you who may not know, I teach high school photography. My photography 3 students develop “concepts” to study and perfect throughout the entire semester. This next article was written by Lydia, one of my photo 3students. She is studying fashion photography and asked me if she could write this article as a guest blogger. All of my photo 3 students take their photography very seriously (yay for me!) and Lydia has such a passion for what she does. I definitely encourage my students to go above and beyond with their assignments and this is one of those above and beyond moments.

————-

Starting my freshman year of high school, I found a new love and that new love is photography! We all know that coming into high school can be an unsure highway, with many exits and accidents along the way.

Fortunately, I stumble along an amazing exit. Photography is like seeing the world in a different way, one I never thought possible. I love being able to capture the things I see with one click of a button!

After realizing my potential in photography, the possibilities of my imagination grew into such an extensive oblivion of wonder.  I found a new passion, but now I am mastering this new discovery and making it MY OWN.

I wanted to explore the world by taking pictures of people, but I found that I enjoyed taking pictures of myself better. In the process, I am not only the photographer, but the model as well. I set everything up on my own (the camera, exposure settings, and lighting, ect.) and let the world see what I see. I can be different people and characters, just like actors on a stage.

Within this post, I have added a sample of what I do in my photography class. If you would like to see more, visit my Facebook page!

Thanks for reading, but I have one last question. What kind of photography inspires you?

Great post, Lydia! I love that shot, too – - – you look so glamorous!

I would have to say that my favorite photography is fashion photography. Since fashion is a definite part of my every day, I have found that viewing fashion photography from time to time can really help to inspire me and broaden my style!

Keep up the great work! You’re beautiful AND talented!

Love this post! It made me smile…I was Mrs. Gora’s teacher when she was in high school, and I saw so much potential in her. (And if I had a blog back then, I totally would have let her guest post!) :)

My favorite type of photography is candid. I love capturing “that moment” when the subject is totally relaxed and letting their personality shine through. (Even though I’m a terrible candid subject myself…LOL!)

My favorite type of photography is capturing a shot of random, everyday people in random moments. I’m fascinated with people (I’m a people person) and believe each person is unique with their own story to tell, whether it’s through photography, a story, etc. Ps. I did not know that Bekkabess (Bekka) used to be Christina’s teacher! I love learning new things! : )

Wow! I love idea of “finding your exit”! Highschool should definitely be a time to start cultivating your passion. Looks like you’ve found yours and you’re off to an amazing start!

    Thanks so much everyone! :)

Bekka- I LOVE Mrs. Gora! She is an amazing teacher and photographer! I have definitely been inspired by her class, and I am honored to have one of her teachers like my photos. Haha.

Natia-I love the randomest things! I am a very random person as well. My vintage photography is very random and different. The same goes for my art and abstracts photos. Haha.

Mike- Thanks so much! I love metaphors, so I’m glad someone liked it. I hope I am! Music is my first passion, but looks like photography has stolen my heart as well. :D
