1. Where did you thrift your outfit and aprox. how much was the cost?

I bought my outfit at a local thrift store, Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Store, that is near my work. I bought my top, plaid pants, belt & purse for approximately $17.00. This was the first time I’ve ever been in this thrift store and was not sure what to expect. I was extremely impressed that I bought a whole outfit for $17.00! Pretty cool!!! : )

2. What was the inspiration behind your outfit?

I really wanted to “step out of the box”, or my comfort zone, and try something different. My top was black, which is not a color that I normally wear, except for black leggings. I bought plaid dress pants, which is also something I don’t wear often. I haven’t worn dress pants in probably 6 years, and I finally wore a pair last month, which I fashiondiaried. My inspiration was to find something that was comfortable, but something that I would have not worn, otherwise. I wanted to try something new, and now I will probably wear more black and wear dress pants to work!

3. What did you enjoy most about thrifting?

I took my aides to help me find an outfit for this challenge. We went during our lunch break, so we had a limited time to shop. What I enjoyed most was how fun we made the whole experience. It was like we were on a reality show, running around the store, grabbing clothes from all over, and we just laughed so much. I also loved the challenge of thrifting. There are great items, but you just have to be patient and really look for them. What’s neat about thrifting is how something might not look appealing until you try it on.

4. What advice would you give first-time thrifters?

This was my first time thrifting, so I am a first-time thrifter! My advice is to be patient and open-minded and give thrifting a chance. Don’t go in there expecting great items to come to you, but really look at each item with an open heart and mind. I will definitely be thrifting again, and I can’t wait till Goodwill opens up in my town (mid October!!)!!!

5. Why do you deserve the Grand Belt of Honor?

This is a very hard question to answer, honestly, because I don’t really know if I deserve the Grand Belt of Honor. I was surprised-actually shocked-that I was a finalist, mainly because I have never thrifted and know nothing about thrifting. I’m extremely happy and proud to even make it as a finalist, and whomever wins the GBOH truly deserves it!!!!

6. Do you have a website that you would like to share with everyone?

I do not have a website.

Thank you Kendra and Kara for the nice compliment! I’m excited to go on my next thrifting adventure. I can’t believe this is what I have been missing out on! If it weren’t for this challenge and Christina’s fashion diaries, I would never have tried thrifting!
