1. Where did you thrift your outfit and aprox. how much was the cost?

I thrifted my outfit from Value Village here in Canada. The price was $ 29.99 for dupioni silk and the crinoline came with it!

2. What was the inspiration behind your outfit?

I LOVE flowers and great fabric, so I couldnt leave the store without it. It was a size fourteen and a bit short but I knew with the right seamstress it would be awesome. The fabric was naturally faded, so my seamstress cut from her own daughters old wedding dress to provide the perfect color match and add to the bottom! can you say perfect?

3. What did you enjoy most about thrifting?

I enjoy getting something you need at a great price, the fabric alone for my dress is crazy expensive! And you can find great vintage stuff that no other store can offer and no other person will be wearing.

4. What advice would you give first-time thrifters?

Dont be turned off by the smell lol it comes out in the wash! Go when you have TIME. Dont just take a peek and leave… you have to go through literally every single item on a rack to find the good stuff. And DONT be influenced by others who may say ‘ew, second hand?” be proud of it!

5. Why do you deserve the Grand Belt of Honor?

Well, my wedding dress pretty much set the stage for our entire wedding. I realized I could make all my ideas happen with a little creativity and a little budget. This got the ball rolling for a simple life, and we love it. I deserve the belt of honor because I love nice things but I work part time in order to volunteer, so most of my wardrobe is second hand but I wouldnt have it any other way!

6. Do you have a website that you would like to share with everyone?

I love checking out j crew and anthropologie for ideas, and then hitting the thrift store of course!

If you are inspired by Julianne’s interview and outfit, vote for her here!
