Have you ever rolled over in bed, looked up to see the sun shining through your window, closed your eyes to try to drift back to sleep, then frantically opened your eyes to glance at your alarm clock, only to find that you have a mere 15 minutes before you have to be out the door? If you don’t call into work and say you’ll be late (because a lot of us don’t have that option), chances are, you will stumble out the door wearing Lord knows what, hair a mess, make-up bag in hand (to apply on the way of course) and feeling all but confident. Fear not, ladies, I have some awesome tips for you to consider for the next time this may happen to you!

1. Always have that go-to outfit prepared. You know which one I’m talking about – the pants that don’t require any ironing and the comfy dress t-shirt that you can throw a scarf and cardigan over and be good to go. Make sure it is hanging in your closet, ready to be called upon when the dreaded oversleeping catastrophe comes.

2. Be accessory ready. I keep a small pouch of the accessory staples in my purse at all times: diamond studs, gold hoops, and a couple of bangle bracelets and cuffs. That way, if I don’t have time to coordinate accessories, I know that I am covered!

3. When it comes to your hair, have a secret weapon. Before I chopped my hair off (8 inches a couple weeks ago! Yikes!) My hair secret was a high pony with some teasing for added height. It really camoflauged well if my hair hadn’t been washed and was a tad oily (AKA dirty). Now I use Tigi Rockstar dry shampoo. A little spray in the bangs and my hair looks fantastic and I’m out the door in a second!

4. Think about getting a louder alarm clock. ;)

I hope these tips are helpful to you! What are some of your tricks to combat oversleeping?

I’m totally going to try the dry shampoo. I’m one of those people that must take a shower every morning…even with a newborn!

I am the same way, Annie! I love a warm shower in the morning! Some days I just don’t have time to wash, blow dry, and style my hair – so I a pinch, the dry shampoo works wonders!!

Christina, I have a confession! I overslept yesterday for the first time in a long time! But I was prepared! :) Luckily, my trusty last minute outfit was there waiting!!

I’m definitely putting some accessories in my purse! Great ideas — I’m a terrible over-sleeper.
